Arterial ulcers and Venous ulcers

Arterial ulcers and Venous ulcers

Supply of nutrient-rich blood to the lower extremities causes arterial ulcers, also known as ischemic ulcers. The oxygen supply to the overlaying skin and tissues is subsequently cut off, killing the tissues, and causing an open wound.

Leg ulcers produced by difficulties with blood flow in your leg veins are known as venous ulcers. When you get a cut or scrape, your body's natural healing process kicks in to try to close the wound. The wound will heal over time. However, without adequate care, ulcers may not heal.
