Chronic wounds are those that do not heal in a normal, ordered, and regular basis. They're common, yet they're frequently mistreated. Arterial, diabetic, pressure, and venous ulcers are all common lower extremity sores. Chronic wounds are caused by an increasing bacterial load, a lack of blood supply, infection, or the use of the incorrect treatment. Other chronic wounds develop because of the severity of the trauma.
